When making a booking you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions.

1. Booking.

a. Places can only be reserved by submitting a completed booking form and making a 10% deposit. The rest of your payment is due 2 weeks prior to your arrival if you are paying online, or upon arrival if you are paying cash.

b. All bookings will be confirmed by email.

c. All bookings made with Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures are protected under Swedish Law by a travel guarantee. Anyone who arranges or sells travel arrangements subject to the provisions of the Travel Guarantees Act (1972:204) must lodge a travel guarantee with Kammarkollegiet before these arrangements can be marketed or sold. The purpose of the Act is to provide financial protection for travellers if a travel arrangement is cancelled or interrupted, usually as the result of the bankruptcy of the travel operator.

2. Amendments by the customer.
a. Substitution of the original customer for another may be made, provided the substituting customer satisfies the requirements of the activity and a new booking form is signed and submitted.

b. A customer may change dates if agreed by Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures up to 6 weeks prior to commencement subject to an administrative charge if this leads to non-recoverable expenses for Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures.

c. Any request to change dates within the 6 week period will be dealt with under the terms and conditions relating to cancellation by the customer.

3. Cancellation by the Customer.

All cancellations must be in writing and acknowledged by Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures.

A cancellation made by the participant gives the right to the following returns from the part of the payment, which has not caused Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures irrevocable fees:

Customers can cancel bookings on these terms, and we will manage

·         60 Days or more before departure: 100% refund of the trip, less any deposit paid.

·         59 Days – 30 Days before departure: 50% refund of the trip.

·         29 Days or less before departure: 0% of the trip.

If the participant choses to leave the trip earlier than planned, this does not entitle to a return.

4. Amendments and Cancellation by the Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures.

a. Whilst every attempt is made to ensure that the trip takes place as advertised, Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures will notify the customer of a cancellation as soon as practicable, where on reasonable grounds it believes that cancellation is necessary due to dangerous and/or unsuitable conditions for the trip.

b. Customers accept they should have the fitness and competence commensurate with their chosen trip. If in the opinion of Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures staff your fitness or competence level may compromise the safety of the trip we reserve the right to cancel or terminate your trip. If in doubt please discuss your health and competency prior to booking. If you are affected by a medical condition which may affect you or other people’s safety or enjoyment of the trip, you must advise this at the time of booking.

c. Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures will notify the customer of the cancellation not less than 2 weeks prior to the commencement of trip should it become necessary due to unforeseen circumstances.

d. Sea kayaking is weather dependant. In the event that the weather is unsuitable, Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures will advise suitable safe alternatives such as use of sheltered waters in harbours and fjords.

e. We endeavour to select the best locations for the trip. In the event of force majeure (unusual and unforeseen circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which are unavoidable e.g. strike, riot, natural disaster, act of war or terrorism) and Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures is forced to cancel or curtail a trip we will endeavour to provide a suitable alternative, but we cannot pay compensation or accept liability for the return of fees or expenses (e.g. flights).

f. In the event of cancellation by Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures for administrative reasons customers will be offered the choice of the following options: Full refund of all fees and deposit / another booking on a different date or trip or Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures Gift Vouchers to the value of 110% of the trip value.

5. Insurance.

a. Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures advises that customers acquire insurance for cancellation and curtailment and loss / damage of personal belongings and equipment for your whole trip.

b. It is a condition of booking for all expeditions that you are covered by adequate insurance for the duration of the itinerary and for the activities undertaken. The insurance must include cover for medical and emergency expenses (including repatriation), personal accident, injury and death. In the event of emergency medical expenses the responsibility of such costs will be borne by the customer. Please ensure that you hold travel insurance that covers activities like kayaking.

6. Your safety.

All specialist equipment required for the activity will be supplied by us. Personal protective and safety equipment supplied must be worn at all times. A group safety kit including first aid and mobile phone will be given out at the start of your trip.

7. Under 18s.

Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures does not cater for unaccompanied children under 18 years of age. Accompanied children over 12 may participate in sea kayaking on the condition that the accompanying adult accepts that the child’s actions and safety is the accompanying adult’s responsibility.

8. Data Protection.

We will not sell or give out your personal details or e-mail address to any other party without your permission. We may contact you to keep you informed of other trips and events.

9. Personal belongings.

Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures can hold onto larger baggage for you whilst you are out on the water, however we cannot be held responsible for personal belongings and equipment. Items stored in our vehicles or with our staff is at your own risk. If you take valuables on our activities e.g. jewellery, watches, glasses, non-waterproof cameras etc you do so at your own risk.

10. General.

Any information provided by Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures on such matters as climate, clothing, equipment, advice etc. is given in good faith but without responsibility on the part of Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures.

11. Acceptance of risk.

There will always be some risk in sea kayaking. Some of these risks might contribute to the loss or damage of your personal clothing/equipment, feelings of discomfort, fear, apprehension, or even accidental injury, illness, trauma or death. All kayaking activities are undertaken at your own risk.

12. Complaints and feedback.

a. If you have a complaint about the trip, you should make it known to a Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures member of staff at the earliest opportunity. If you feel the complaint has not been properly dealt with Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures will endeavour to agree a settlement with you. Any outstanding complaint not resolved during the trip should be notified to us in writing within 30 days of the scheduled end of the trip.

b. Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures strives to enable its customers to get as much enjoyment from sea kayaking as we get from it ourselves. We welcome feedback, and seek your comments and suggestions verbally, in writing, or electronically – via the website, blog, Facebook or Twitter. We are always interested to see any photographs you may take and will make any photographs or video we take freely available to you.

13. Limited liability.

Under no circumstances shall Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures be liable for any direct, indirect, special, punitive, incidental, exemplary, or consequential damages, or any damages whatsoever, arising out of or in connection with the use, inability to use, or performance of the information, services, products and materials available on the Scandinavian Kayaking Adventures website or given to you before your trip.
